This Midsummer, we're indulging in four classic cheeses that don't require any special fuss. Just add good jam or fresh fruits and berries, a cool wine or beer - and, of course, the best company.
Ovalie Cendrée - an ash-covered goat cheese classic from the Loire Valley. At this time of year, Ovalie still enjoys the freshness brought by the sweet grass of spring.
Saint Felicien - notes of fresh milk and summer meadows in the form of a soft white mold cheese! Try it with sweet strawberries and basil.
Comté Tradition - in this summer Comté, aged for fourteen months, you can taste fruits, roasted nuts, and plenty of churned butter.
Marmori - a masterpiece by Sastamala cheesemaker Peter Dörig, this is a mature cheese whose marbled pattern is created by ash. Marmori is Dörig's tribute to his two favorite cheeses: Appenzeller and Morbier, and you can taste the influences of these two classics in Marmori.
