Open Position: Cheesemonger or Trainee Cheesemonger
Rolling Cheese is looking for a full-time cheesemonger or trainee cheesemonger to join our team in Töölö, Helsinki.
This is a hands-on retail role focused on selling, handling and caring for exceptional cheese, charcuterie and deli products, and giving every customer warm, confident and knowledgeable service.
We welcome applications from experienced cheesemongers and speciality food professionals, as well as people at the beginning of their careers who have strong potential and a useful foundation in customer service, retail, food or hospitality.
You do not need to know our cheeses before joining us. We provide thorough practical training and professional learning on the job. You do, however, need genuine curiosity, high personal standards and the ability to learn a substantial amount of product knowledge.
The role
Your work will include:
- serving customers and recommending cheeses for different tastes, occasions and budgets
- learning about cheese, accompaniments and food and drinks pairings
- cutting, wrapping, labelling, storing and caring for cheese correctly
- receiving deliveries, managing stock and preparing customer, online and wholesale orders
- preparing cheese and charcuterie boards for wine bar service
- monitoring product quality and freshness
- maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation
- supporting the smooth daily operation of the shop
This is a dedicated cheesemonger position, not a hybrid restaurant-server role. It is active, hands-on work and involves standing for much of the day, handling deliveries and completing practical tasks throughout the shop.

- the ability to absorb, retain and communicate detailed product knowledge
- a practical approach and willingness to do every part of the job well
Previous cheese knowledge is an advantage, but it is not essential. We are looking for someone who brings relevant skills, experience or a strong foundation in customer service, retail, food or hospitality, together with the curiosity and commitment to develop specialist knowledge.
You will need to have a Finnish Hygieniapassi.
Language requirements
Working Finnish and English are required from the start.
Your Finnish does not need to be perfect, but you must already be able to hold a natural conversation in Finnish, understand customers’ questions and serve Finnish-speaking customers confidently.

Practical details

- Daytime, evening and weekend shifts
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Salary starting from €15 per hour, with the final salary based on relevant experience
- Applicable evening, Saturday, Sunday and other supplements are paid according to the Finnish Retail Trade Collective Agreement (kaupan TES)
