Maison Valette
MEET THE MAKER
In 1920, Adrien and Louise Valette founded a small family business in Saint-Clair, a village nestled between Quercy and Périgord in southwestern France. Over a century later, Maison Valette remains in the hands of the same family, now in its third generation. Traditional recipes, local ingredients and a genuine love of good food have been at the heart of the business from the very beginning.
Périgord is famous for some of the great classics of French gastronomy: duck, slow-cooked confits, rich country terrines and, of course, the region's celebrated black truffles. Maison Valette makes all of these and more. Some of their recipes have remained unchanged for over 60 years, while new creations continue to find their place alongside the classics. Carefully selected ingredients, respect for regional culinary traditions and generations of expertise are at the heart of everything they make.
We first met Maison Valette at the Fromage Expo in Paris in June 2026 and were particularly taken with their country pâtés, terrines and rillettes, as well as traditional French dishes such as cassoulet and duck confit. These are exactly the kinds of wonderful things we love bringing to Rolling Cheese: food with a story, made with knowledge and tradition, and equally at home on the everyday dinner table or at a special occasion.
