Open Position: Shop Manager
Rolling Cheese is an independent cheese shop, deli and wine bar based in Töölö, Helsinki.
For the past five years, we have built a business centred around exceptional products, genuine expertise, and doing things properly. We work directly with some of Europe’s best artisan producers, specialise in traditional farmhouse cheeses, and have built a loyal customer base that values quality, knowledge and thoughtful hospitality.
As our business enters its next phase of growth, we are now looking for a Shop Manager to take on a central operational role within the company and become an important part of what we build next.
We are looking for someone who can help take ownership of the day-to-day running of the business, support our team, maintain exceptionally high standards, and help ensure Rolling Cheese continues operating with the same care and attention to detail that has defined us from the beginning.
The role
As Shop Manager, you will work closely with the founders and gradually take responsibility for many of the operational and administrative functions involved in running a growing independent business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing day-to-day business operations
- Staff scheduling, shift planning and holiday coordination
- Supporting and supervising the wider team
- Managing stock ordering, deliveries and inventory
- Coordinating events, tastings and customer bookings
- Helping maintain consistently high standards across service, organisation and presentation
- Identifying problems early and improving day-to-day systems and processes
This is a highly hands-on role.
Some days will involve organising, planning and solving problems behind the scenes. Other days you will be working directly alongside the team on the shop floor.
While the role is primarily daytime-based, evening and weekend work is expected.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable and motivated by making things run smoothly.
You’re organised, highly dependable, and comfortable taking responsibility for making things happen without constant supervision.
You likely have experience in hospitality, retail or another fast-moving operational environment.
You do not need to know cheese.
What matters more is that you:
- Have experience managing people, operations or day-to-day business functions
- Are highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Notice problems early and instinctively take action
- Take initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs doing
- Care deeply about standards and understand that details matter
- Can work independently and see tasks through properly
- Have a genuine interest in food, drink and hospitality
- Speak fluent English and are comfortable working in Finnish

- Salary €3600-4000/month depending on experience
- Evening and weekend supplements according to TES
